Bringing it Home, Then Taking it for a Spin:
My travel jewelry box has a new addition — a handmade, vintage-inspired pinless brooch made by my friend Miriam.
Miriam had a vision — brooches that didn’t require pins, instead, heavy-duty magnets that would hold fast on everything from fabric to leather purses or metal bracelets.
She began acquiring vintage pieces and pulling them together in works of art.
As you can see, her inventory (here a mere fraction of it), is extensive, especially when it comes to a one-of-a-kind piece.
Whereas I saw the pieces as great jewelry, the traveler in me saw something else… the perfect way to keep blankets or pashminas in place while sleeping aboard airplanes. I’ve tested my theory and it was a success.
So it seemed only fitting that I share this find with you. This blue and gold brooch will be given away to one lucky reader.
To enter, all you have to do is make a comment and include contact information within the comment. A drawing will be done on July 1 and the winner will be notified at that time. Good luck!
